Water hardness

Water contains calcium and magnesium compounds. When these combine with dissolved carbon, water hardness occurs. Soft water is defined as 0 to 7 degrees of German hardness (dH), classified under hardness range I. Hard water is defined as 14 to 21 degrees dH, classified under hardness range III. The water hardness also affects instrument processing; the DGSV provides recommendations on this.
